I’m taking the online course Connectivism and Connective Knowledge, and there are pre-week 1 activities. I have readings, tests to run on the technology being used, as well as an assignment to answer the following questions on my blog. So here goes:
- Where you’re from
I am actually from NorthWest Florida, but right now I live about an hour west of Boston, MA. - Why you’re interested in this course
I write technical courses for a big company, I’d like to be able to use the best educational processes possible when creating courseware. - What has to happen in order for you to consider this course a success
I will consider it a success if I can keep up with the work (I am taking a grad level course for credit and working full time, so we’ll see), and if I can find something that I am able to incorporate into my duties at work. - Random information about yourself – your work, your experience with networked technologies, etc.
I design technical courses, right now network management and configuration software, so I am pretty technical. I used to be a web admin, so I have lots of experience with Tomcat, Apache, etc. I’ve facilitated online groups for several years, and many times the groups have included an instructional aspect, but never anything formal.
Hi Gina,
Great to see representation from the corporate sector! I’ve spent time/effort recently working with a model for broad corporate learning/technology strategies. As such, I welcome hearing more about your experiences and views of how/if connectivism can be applied in your work setting.
Sounds like you have a full workload with courses you’re tackling!
George
Thanks George! I have taken two grad classes at a time, and it was a challenge but somehow I survived. This class will dovetail nicely into social media tasks I have at work now.
I am interested in how connectivism can be blended with our current systematic approach to instruction. This will be interesting!
