Life is hard, but good #vDM30in30 Day 5

Wow, this week has been crazy.

My great-aunt Martha died yesterday. Yesterday, after a normal medical procedure, she was put on life support. She never pulled through it. It sucks, so much. I drove up to the mountains to visit her the Sunday before Ignite. She wasn’t feeling well, but we went to lunch and she wouldn’t let me pay. And we ate ridiculously bad dessert. And I drove her in her Prius all over the North Georgia mountains. She told me some great stories about my grandparents, about when they started dating. I wanted to hear more.

I’m so friggin pissed.  She had fallen, and had been in the hospital. They took her in for a routine operation. It went bad, and when she never woke up. I don’t trust the doctors for rural and poor communities. I have many reasons not to, and this is just so sad I almost can’t stand it.

I also moved into my house today. Here are some pics. I have a little more to work out, but we’re in!

I want to give a shout-out to my new team, and my boss. I’m still new, but everyone is so supportive. Y’all do your research when you’re job hunting, and remember interviews are for you to evaluate who you’ll be working with. My last several teams have been outstanding, and this is in part to me seeing that interview as a two-way street. Also thanks guys, it means so much to have y’all’s support.

After I settled in for the night, Fred and I sat outside, listening to the kids playing and cutting up down the way. I had a scotch.

Life is good y’all. Even if it’s super friggin sad at the moment.

Here are some of my highlights from today:

A cat ran up into the tree when we got here, and proceeded to watch over everything. I think this is her yard.
